Map 3.2

This quiet trailhead camp is located at the end of Twisp River Road. Set at an elevation of 3,600 feet along the Twisp River, it features a major trailhead that provides fishing access and a chance to hike for mountain views and explore the Lake Chelan-Sawtooth Wilderness. The trail intersects with Copper Creek Trail and the Pacific Crest Trail about nine miles from the camp. A U.S. Forest Service map is essential. Note that this camp is closed in the off-season to protect bull trout, an endangered species.

Campsites, facilities: There are four sites for tents or small RVs up to 16 feet long. Picnic tables and fire grills are provided. Vault toilets are available. There is no drinking water, and garbage must be packed out. Some facilities are wheelchair accessible. Leashed pets are permitted.

Reservations, fees: Reservations are not accepted. Sites are $8 per night for one vehicle, $5 per each additional vehicle. Open late May-early September, weather permitting.

Directions: From Burlington, drive east on Highway 20 for 145 miles to Twisp and County Road 9114 (Twisp River Road). Turn west on County Road 9114 and drive 11 miles (becomes Forest Road 44, then eventually Forest Road 4440). Continue west for 13.5 miles to the campground.
